Chardonnay: The Soul of Franciacorta
Chardonnay is the cornerstone of our vineyards and the variety that best expresses the elegance, finesse and longevity of Franciacorta. Its remarkable versatility makes it the ideal grape for the traditional method, producing wines of exceptional freshness, delicate aromatics and vibrant acidity, while also providing the structure required for long ageing on the lees.
Our Chardonnay thrives on the ancient morainic soils left behind by the retreating glaciers that shaped the Franciacorta landscape thousands of years ago. Rich in minerals and exceptionally well-drained, these soils encourage deep root systems and naturally balanced vines. Combined with the gentle breezes that rise daily from nearby Lake Iseo, cooling the vineyards during the warm summer months and creating significant day-to-night temperature variation, the terroir provides the perfect conditions for slow, even ripening.
The result is fruit of extraordinary purity and balance, where freshness, elegance and complexity coexist in perfect harmony. It is from these grapes that the foundation of our Franciacorta wines is born, faithfully expressing the unique character of our estate and the exceptional terroir that surrounds it.
Pinot Noir: Structure, Depth and Character
Pinot Noir is the noble companion to Chardonnay in our vineyards, bringing depth, structure and remarkable complexity to our Franciacorta wines. Renowned for its sensitivity to terroir, this demanding variety thrives only in exceptional growing conditions, rewarding careful cultivation with grapes of extraordinary elegance and character.
On the ancient morainic soils of Franciacorta, Pinot Noir develops a unique balance between richness and freshness. The mineral-rich, well-drained terrain encourages low yields and concentrated fruit, while the cooling breezes from nearby Lake Iseo moderate the summer heat and preserve the grape's natural acidity. These ideal conditions allow the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly, achieving perfect phenolic maturity while maintaining the vibrant freshness essential for traditional-method sparkling wines.
Harvested by hand at the precise moment of ripeness, our Pinot Noir contributes body, finesse and longevity to our Franciacorta cuvées, while also giving life to elegant rosé expressions. Whether used in a blend or as the protagonist, it brings precision, complexity and a distinctive sense of place, faithfully reflecting the vineyards from which it is born.
